THIS FRIDAY!!!

It's finally here - our long awaited CD/LP RELEASE SHOW! This FRIDAY, APRIL 20th at the beautiful TAFT THEATRE BALLROOM in downtown CIncinnati! We'll be joined onstage by special guests RICKY NYE on piano and organ, and BRIAN HOGG on saxophone! Support acts for the night are CHUCK CLEAVER and LISA WALKER (of WUSSY), JEREMY PINNELL & THE 55's, and TOM EVANCHUCK & THE OLD MONEY! Come join us on our big night - it's been a long time coming!

ATTENTION ALL WILD THINGS!

Join Magnolia Mountain on THURSDAY, APRIL 12 at the CINCINNATI ZOO & BOTANICAL GARDENS for an installment of this year's TUNES AND BLOOMS concert series! We're joined that night by our friends THE COMET BLUEGRASS ALL-STARS! Zoo admission is free after 5:00 p.m. Parking in the Zoo lot is $8.00 (parking on adjoining streets is, of course, free). Music goes from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., with Magnolia Mountain starting around 7:30.

MARK UTLEY, RENEE FRYE, AND JEFF VANOVER TRIO SHOW SCHEDULED

New Covington, KY nightspot GEEZ'L PETE'S stellar lineup of acoustic Wednesday night shows continues with Magnolia Mountain's Mark Utley taking the stage from 8:00 p.m. until midnight on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11th.

Mark will perform one set solo and will then be joined for an additional two sets by Magnolia Mountain bandmates Renee Frye and Jeff Vanover.

No cover charge, plus great drink and food specials all night long. Come early, stay late (and please help spread the word)!

MAGNOLIA MOUNTAIN AT COUCH BY COUCH WEST

I'm sure you all have heard of South by Southwest, the music festival / showcase / clusterf*ck in Austin, Texas that's happening this week.

Well, for bands that are either too broke, too poorly connected, too cynical about the SxSW circus, or too whatever to attend, there is now Couch by Couch West ("Where the beer is cheaper and the only hipster is you").

Basically, the band sits down on a couch (or something similar) and performs a song on camera. Nothing fancy. One camera, no cuts. Then they upload it to couchbycouchwest.com for it to be viewed by all the music fans who are either too broke, too poorly connected, too cynical about the SxSW circus, or too whatever to attend.

We got together this week on Mark's big red sectional couch and recorded a version of "Black Mollie" for CXCW2012. You can view it HERE on the CXCW website (along with dozens of other submissions from other bands) or view it HERE on YouTube.

"TOWN AND COUNTRY" ALBUM RELEASE SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT

The date, venue, and lineup for Magnolia Mountain's Town and Country Album Release Show are now official!

Join us on FRIDAY, APRIL 20 at THE BALLROOM AT THE TAFT THEATRE in downtown Cincinnati, with special guests CHUCK CLEAVER & LISA WALKER (of Wussy), JEREMY PINNELL & THE 55's, and TOM EVANCHUCK & THE OLD MONEY!

Doors open at 7:00, show starts at 8:00. All ages show. Tickets are $10.00 in advance, $13.00 day of show.

Advance tickets go on sale on FRIDAY, MARCH 9 at ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster locations. Avoid all Ticketmaster service charges by purchasing your tickets at the Taft Theatre Box Office.

Town and Country will be available at the show in two formats: as a compact disc and as a vinyl double album.

"THE HAND OF MAN" VIDEO RACKS UP OVER 3,500 VIEWS IN FIRST WEEK!

Thanks to some great write-ups and lots of word-of-mouth, our video for "The Hand of Man" has chalked up OVER 3,500 VIEWS on YouTube in its first week online!

NEW VIDEO

We are proud to announce the release of our video for "The Hand of Man", our track from the Music for the Mountains compilation album. It took almost exactly a year to make, mostly because all the talented folks who worked so hard at putting it together donated 100% of their time. It turned out beautifully and we couldn't be happier with it. You can scroll down and watch it here on this page, or watch it in full-screen glory on YouTube.

It's been up for just one day and we've already had over a hundred views, plus some very nice press from Jeff Biggers at the Huffington Post.

INTO THE NEW YEAR

Happy New Year, everybody! We're real excited about the upcoming year and all it holds in store. We've finished the recording of our third album, Town and Country. It's now on to mixing and mastering, and then duplicating the CD's and pressing the vinyl LP's. The official release date is SATURDAY, MARCH 24, at a show with some exciting guests at a special venue soon to be announced.

We'll also be hitting the road in late Spring to do some (primarily) weekend dates throughout the midwest and the southeast to promote the record. Details will be announced here as they're finalized.

In the meantime, we'll still be playing regularly around the Greater Cincinnati area, so check our Gigs page for venues, dates, and times.

NOVEMBER 22, 2011

RECORDING UPDATES:

Four final days in the studio in mid-December will mark the end of the recording sessions for Town and Country, the third Magnolia Mountain album. We recorded the basic tracks for the final two songs ("Rainmaker" and "Cry for Me") a couple of weeks ago. We'll finish up these tracks and various and sundry other final overdubs during these final four sessions, plus welcome in a few special guests to lend their talents to the proceedings. Then it's on to mastering, pressing, and our album release show on MARCH 24, 2012. Can't wait for everyone to hear it.

UPCOMING PERFORMANCE

Magnolia Mountain frontman MARK UTLEY will be performing a solo set at MOTR PUB on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8, opening for Houston, TX singer/songwriter ROBERT ELLIS. Mark is very pleased and honored to be offered this gig, and hopes to see you there. MM guitarist JEFF VANOVER will be joining Mark on many of the songs.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19 is the date for the amazing "TO SING WITH YOU ONCE MORE" benefit concert put together by Mike Oberst of The Tillers. The line-up includes folk music giants like JOHN COHEN and TRACY SCHWARZ (of the NEW LOST CITY RAMBLERS), LEE SEXTON, CLIFTON HICKS, and a ton of other great national, regional, and local acts. We are incredibly proud to be part of this show. We will be performing a new original song that Mark wrote expressly for this event, plus we will be joined for a song by special guest ROSIE CARSON on fiddle and vocals. Do not miss this show!!!!
